What Makes Odipie Marine Batteries Different from Ordinary Lithium Batteries?

Excerpt:
Odipie marine batteries are engineered for harsh marine conditions, featuring IP67 waterproofing, shock-resistant structures, and anti-corrosion casings. The series utilizes safe LiFePO4 cells and offers seamless communication with Victron inverters, available in a full range of models from 12.8V to 51.2V.
In 2023, Odipie successfully developed and launched its marine battery series, which represented a highly advanced technology at the time. Back then, no other manufacturer had the capability to produce similar marine batteries, and even today, many competitors are still studying how our products are made.
At present, we already offer a comprehensive range of marine battery models, including 12.8V 100Ah, 12.8V 200Ah, 12.8V 300Ah, 12.8V 400Ah, 25.6V 100Ah, 25.6V 200Ah, 38.4V 100Ah, 38.4V 200Ah, and 51.2V 100Ah.
Next, I will briefly introduce the key differences between our marine batteries and ordinary lithium batteries.
When designing our marine batteries, we first considered their working environment—rivers, lakes, and oceans—where exposure to water is inevitable. Therefore, the battery must achieve a waterproof rating of IP67 or higher. Since marine applications involve constant vibration and movement, the structural design must provide excellent anti-vibration performance. Additionally, given the frequent exposure to water or seawater, which is corrosive, we opted for a corrosion-resistant plastic enclosure instead of a metal casing. In contrast, ordinary lithium batteries generally fall short in waterproofing, vibration resistance, and corrosion protection—key reasons why marine batteries have higher production costs.

In terms of cell selection, safety and stability are paramount for marine applications. We use Grade A LiFePO₄ (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells, known for their high thermal stability and ultra-long lifespan(over 5,000 cycles). Other lithium battery packs may use either LiFePO₄ or ternary lithium cells, but for marine environments, LiFePO₄is the superior and safer choice.
Furthermore, many users pair marine batteries with inverters—most commonly Victron inverters. To ensure seamless integration, Odipie marine batteries are equipped with communication interfaces compatible with Victron inverters. During battery design, our engineers incorporate these communication ports and embed the corresponding communication protocol directly into the BMS (Battery Management System). Many manufacturers lack the technical capability to debug and configure communication protocols, but our engineering team specializes in this area.
